At Pinkwell Primary School, in PE we would like our pupils from Early Years to Year 6 to:
Be creative, energetic and enterprising
Seize the opportunities offered by new knowledge and technologies to secure social, cultural, economic and environmental future for our country
Continue to develop values, knowledge and competencies that will enable them to live full and satisfying lives
Be confident, connected, actively involved and lifelong learners
PE vision and principles
At Pinkwell our vision is to give children a PE curriculum which enables them to develop as physically literate individuals who have the knowledge, skills and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activity.
At Pinkwell, we believe that great PE occurs when children are able to:
Be creative, energetic and enterprising
Access opportunities offered by new knowledge and techniques to secure social, cultural and sporting well being
Continue to develop sporting values and knowledge that will enable them to live full and satisfying lives
Be confident, connected, actively involved and lifelong learners to develop a healthy mind and body
Physical activity not only improves health, reduces stress and improves concentration, but also promotes correct physical growth and development. Exercise has a positive influence on academic achievement, emotional stability and interaction with others. Therefore both teachers and children should be aware of its importance. We provide the broad and balanced programme of physical education we believe every child should have; with activities designed to be enjoyable, vigorous, purposeful and regular. Through providing positive experiences, a lifelong interest in physical activity is encouraged. The range of physical activities is wide and includes athletics, dance, games, gymnastics, swimming and outdoor education.
Swimming
Year 4 pupils have swimming lessons this academic year. Selected Year 5 and Year 6 pupils have top-up swimming based on their swimming assessments from the previous academic year. The end of Key Stage 2 swimming assessment data will be provided in July.
